Research & Development Intern (Summer 2025)
Position Overview
This position is responsible for assisting R&D Staff in performing development work on new and existing products. This can involve literature reviews to determine the current state of chemical, biological, agronomic, and biochemical knowledge, experimental design, formulation optimization, and testing of materials and processes at laboratory and pilot plant scales.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist R&D Staff in the development and commercialization of new chemical and biological products. This work involves collecting, analyzing, and reporting information from product and process evaluations at lab, pilot, and production scale.
- Perform commercialization work which entails elucidation and specification of operational sequences, raw material and product specification, and development of alternative avenues for production.
- Perform physical and chemical tests, data analysis, and communicate test results and experimental observations.
- Perform general daily functions in the Laboratory area.
- Execute literature reviews and provide critical summaries of findings.
- Perform product evaluations via in-house testing or in conjunction with field researchers.
- Evaluate feedstocks and products, including chemical and physical properties.
- Develop and maintaining required record systems.

- Works with either close supervision, or under clearly defined procedures
Minimum Qualifications & Skills
- Two years progress or more in working towards a bachelor’s degree in natural sciences (chemistry, microbiology, botany) or a related degree
- A working knowledge of statistics, laboratory procedures and technology. Functional proficiency of the MS Office suite of software
Physical Requirements and Working Environment
- The incumbent is subject to frequent contact with potentially hazardous ingredients, dirt, dust, noise and adverse weather conditions, and therefore, must be aware of health hazards.
