Data Compliance Specialist – Pupil Services

 

IN THIS ROLE:

You will deliver essential training and support to districts and pupil services, ensuring adherence to state and federal regulations. You’ll manage data tracking and reporting while facilitating communication with both internal teams and external stakeholders. Additionally, you will support truant officers in enforcing compulsory school attendance law, playing a key role in regulatory compliance.

 

WHAT WE NEED:

  • Processes, verifies and maintains truancy referrals, files, schedules and data, including advancement to legal action.
  • Communicates with office of Oakland County Prosecuting Attorney regarding matters of truancy petitions, educational neglect, and prosecutor letter requests.
  • Function as the single point of contact for the Truancy unity regarding the development of our new truancy tracking software and train users upon implementation.
  • Summarizes and analyzes truancy and attendance data and communicates such information to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manages truancy tracking online software system including student data, district entries and user access.
  • Works with technology services to create enhancements and resolve issues
  • Assists in coordinating and communicating the Positive Attendance Support System program caseloads, school assignments and data analysis.
  • Provides information to parents and communicates between parents and truant officers, regarding truancy, Positive Attendance Support System, schools of choice, homeschooling, schooling options, and/or compulsory school attendance law.
  • Receives requests and sends transcripts on behalf of students from Academy of Michigan (closed PSA), and documents what has been requested/processed.
  • Handles SROs (state-mandated communications between courts and schools regarding students involved in the justice system).
  • Makes department purchases as needed.
  • Assists in preparations for truancy task force meetings, ISD truant officers’ meetings, county-wide truancy conference.
  • Prepares written communications such as truancy and Positive Attendance Support System brochures, informational notices for the department, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Associate’s degree
  • 3 years’ experience in technology, education, legal, or related field. 

 

SALARY DETAILS:

$24.08 - $27.92 per hour based on relevant prior work experience, with the potential of earning up to $30.06 hourly after employment with Oakland Schools. Non-Exempt Position / 12-month work year
