The 12-week NiSource Internship program starting May 18th, is a multi-faceted development experience that provides our interns with challenging and meaningful work that impacts the communities we serve. As a NiSource intern, you will have the opportunity to learn from senior leadership and build professional relationships with employees across our company. The NiSource Internship program also incorporates workshops to learn about NiSource, the energy industry and infuses learning and development opportunities that sharpen your professional skills. The robust program will aid in building the fundamentals needed to enter the energy workforce upon graduation.

 

Summary

The intern will learn about NIPSCO's transmission, distribution and storage organization, build relationships with various departments throughout NIPSCO, gain valuable analytical, organization and communication skills, and learn about the Controls Organization.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Successful applicants will become integral member of the department, while learning within a team environment, completing meaningful tasks and collaborating with managers on important projects.  These positions will be a great opportunity for the candidate desiring to launch their career in the Project Control related fields.  Successful applicants will build professional relationships with other interns and all levels of NiSource personal while participating in rewarding professional development exercises. 

Opportunities are available in the following business disciplines

TDSIC SUPPORT:

  • TDSIC Support tracks capital costs and prepares the 7-year plan exhibits for the Electric and Gas TDSIC filings and Gas FMCA tracker filing.
  • Assist in the filing by processing project change requests (PCRs), capturing plan to plan variance explanations, reviewing audit package detail and any other ad hoc analysis needed.

 

PROJECT SCHEDULING & RESOURCE PLANNING:

  • The intern will gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment developing competence in scope development, scope management, and Work Breakdown Structure development, utilization and management.  Gain an understanding of project work elements, how they are organized and reflected in resource estimating for project scheduling.

 

PROJECT COST:

  • The intern will gain hands-on experience in gaining competence and assisting with detailed spreadsheets for cost tracking and forecasts; assist in performance management and work performance information and associated cost trending. Learn how to perform simple earned value management and measurement techniques to develop the project EAC (Estimate at Completion)

 

Required Qualifications for Position

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited university with a major in Accounting, Finance or Project Management
  • Completion of at least two years of undergraduate study
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Strong financial acumen and analytical ability
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and problem solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week
  • Authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship

Salary Range:

$17.20 - $27.80
