HOLIDAY JOB! Specialist, Museum Engagement ~ Holiday Seasonal/PT CINCINNATI MUSEUM CENTER

           Employment from  October 28, 2024– January 20, 2025

           Compensation: $15.00/hour

                  Here at Cincinnati Museum Center, we have a talented team of Museum Engagement staff who are the front-facing team across the gallery spaces in The Children’s Museum, Cincinnati History Museum, Cincinnati Museum of Natural History and Science, and             Featured Exhibitions. The specialists work with guests of all ages, especially those in early childhood (ages 0-8) to help them and their families learn and explore together. They ensure guests have a safe, enriching, and educational experience through engaging with guests, running activities, and facilitating learning through play.  How incredibly fun is this opportunity?

            What would you be likely to be doing, you ask?  Here are just a few of the fun things!

• Work on the museum floors, including interpretation in galleries and programming, ticket taking – where you get to happily greet our excited visitors and opening and closing of the days.
• You would be a proud representative of Cincinnati Museum Center and share your enthusiasm with credibility, curiosity, and a sense of tremendous welcome to all who come to visit during this time.
• Deliver incredible programming for guests to enjoy that includes but is not limited to multi-disciplinary gallery programs that support experiences across the gallery spaces and a variety of topics such as science, history, early childhood development, and art.
• Operate Birdly an immersive VR experience that gives riders a new perspective
• If you are not an expert in exhibits, that is okay as we are experts at training seasonal teammates in everything necessary to be effective to ensure our guests enjoy their visit as much as possible.
• In your time with us, you will also get to collaborate with other Cincinnati Museum Center team members, adult and youth volunteers, and interns to create a cohesive and comprehensive visitor experience for Cincinnati Museum Center guests.

               What are we hoping you can bring with you to this position besides your holiday cheer and spirit?  

               High school diploma or equivalent is a minimum.  If you have any training in Early Childhood Education or related field, that would be amazing!  Also, for those of you with experience presenting programs, teaching, or performing, fabulous!  We are always looking for these types of teammates to be here during this very exciting season!

                 We are looking for teammates who can be proactive and curious while absorbing information quickly.  The museums are full of guests and so much energy, we need a teammate who can handle the rush of excitement and keep a sense of calmness at the same time.  We especially desire fun teammates who enjoy speaking and interacting with small and large groups of people from a variety of racial, cultural, ethnic, gender, and generational backgrounds with sensitivity and active listening.  If you are someone with a passion for our museums, public speaking, and excellent communication skills, THIS IS THE SEASONAL JOB FOR YOU!

                 When do we need you? From November 4, 2024, through our entire holiday season, which ends January 20, 2025.  It would be a position up to 30 hours a week and would include weekend and evening availability requirements.  We just do not want the fun to end, so our holiday season is extended with evenings and weekends being an important part of the season. This is a fun opportunity but does require a lot of physicality, so please keep in mind that you would potentially spend long periods presenting programs, interpreting exhibits, or assisting our excited guests.
