Biological Science Technician (Plants)
Help advance conservation efforts nationwide as a Biological Science Technician (Plants) with USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS)! This role works as part of the Plant Materials Center in Manhattan, KS, developing plant science technology to support NRCS field offices in conservation of natural resources and farm bill programs.
Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Establishing and maintaining seed and plant production fields.
- Establishing and maintaining research plots, including irrigation, fertilization, and application of pest control methods according to the study plan.
- Assisting with monitoring plants, harvesting plots, collecting data, and recording data.
- Organizing, labeling, storing, and applying chemical fertilizers and pesticides, reporting on inventory and use as required by responsible regulatory agencies.
- Responsible for proper operation, maintenance, and repair of various farm agricultural equipment.
- Assisting with Plant Materials Center (PMC) planning and management, participating in regular technology transfer activities.
