NRCS NRCDP Realty Specialist (Virtual - Raleigh, NC; Portland, OR; Washington, DC; or Beltsville, MD) Spring 2025

USDA Agricultural Research Service is currently recruiting for a Realty Specialist at Home | Natural Resources Conservation Service (usda.gov) in Raleigh, NC; Portland, OR; Washington, DC; or Beltsville, MD for Spring 2025. Student is responsible for:
- Reviewing title commitment and supporting documents to identify encumbrances that could negatively impact the USDA's conservation purpose in acquiring a proposed conservation easement, synthesizing encumbrances so that field staff can determine impact.
- Reviewing boundary surveys to ensure they meet USDA conservation easement program requirements and accurately describe the land area to be protected by a conservation easement, marking up the surveys where they do not meet specifications.
- Reviewing proposed conservation easement deeds to determine if they meet the USDA's conservation purposes and effectively protect the land identified.  Proposing edits to senior staff where conservation easement deeds do not yet meet program requirements.
- Responding to requests for status updates on assigned projects and updating system tools to keep others informed on assignments. 
- Meeting with senior staff to discuss work product and learn about USDA conservation easement programs.

Reviewing, analyzing, and synthesizing title, boundary survey, and environmental due diligence documents to assist in the acquisition of conservation easements by the USDA or partner organizations.   

Must have completed 1L real property.  Preferred practical experience with real estate transactions and awareness of conservation easements.
