D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Land Manager for their Operations Department. The right candidate will find, place under contract, receive governmental approval and close on new land that meets the division's needs. Develop raw land and install infrastructure to enable construction of homes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Plans, directs and coordinate all land acquisitions and land development activities
Develop business community relationships and scout other avenues for possible acquisitions
Prepare land valuation analysis and corporate budgets
Develop policies for usage, sale of properties and the construction schedule
Negotiates the acquisition of properties with landowners, attorneys or brokers
Prepare memoranda and other documentation and analytics for corporate approval for land buys
Manage due diligence process on land acquisition opportunities, including initial master planning work in close coordination with internal design and land development teams
Manage, coordinate resources for and meet all entitlement needs for land acquisitions
Monitor development phases and entitlement processes post-closing
Develop construction schedule
Review and sign documents, plats and contracts
Responsible for developing departmental overhead budget and controlling the budget
Work with area municipalities and utility contractors
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises two or more employees in the Land Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications - External
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or seven to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have a vehicle, a valid driver's license, and be willing to travel.
