Certified Veterinary Technician

Northside Pet Hospital located in Eau Claire, WI is a full-service veterinary medical facility that has been providing excellent care since 1987 to Eau Claire and the surrounding areas. We currently have an opening for a full-time Certified Veterinary Technician.

If you enjoy working with animals, providing excellent customer service, assisting the doctors while making a positive impact on a pet’s health by being part of a team that provides laser surgery, exotic animal medicine, and canine rehabilitation on top of all the routine veterinary visits! Then we encourage you to apply with Northside Pet Hospital! As our full-time Certified Veterinary Technicians, you can expect to work 36-40 hours per week. The hours include 9-hour shifts, four days a week, with rotating Saturdays. Previous experience is preferred, but not required.

Job Description:

• Record and update patient information
• Assist the Veterinarians with exams and surgeries
• Collect specimens and perform routine laboratory procedures
• Educate clients about preventative care, and discuss needed treatment plans
• Administer medications and injections
• Schedule appointments and create invoices
• Perform dental cleanings
• Initiate emergency procedures and restrain animals as needed
• Animal Care

Job Requirements:

• Must be 18 years or older
• AAS-VT/ CVT required.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for the majority of shift

Responsibilities:

• Assist veterinarians in providing medical care to animals
• Perform routine procedures such as vaccinations, blood draws, and dental cleanings
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
• Monitor and record vital signs of animals during procedures and treatments
• Prepare animals for surgery and assist during surgical procedures
• Take and develop X-rays of animals
• Provide grooming services such as bathing, brushing, and nail trimming
• Assist with dog training activities

Skills:

• Strong knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and behavior
• Proficiency in performing veterinary procedures and treatments
• Ability to handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately
• Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and veterinary team members
• Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
