After School Enrichment Site Coordinator
Summary: Coordinates the work of the After School Enrichment Program staff. Plans and provides a daily program of nurturing and enriching experiences for pre-k and/or school age children.
Essential Duties: (These duties represent a sample and may vary by position.)
- Assumes primary responsibility for the quality of the program at the school site, insuring a safe, nurturing and enriching environment
- Maintains staff schedule, arranges field trips and orders supplies
- Acts as program liaison with school day staff and principal
- Confers with parents/guardians and acts as primary parent liaison
- Conducts regular staff meetings, nurtures creativity and professional growth in staff
- Facilitates and coordinates special program activities and work of community resource persons
- Assists in the selection of staff and in their evaluation
- Arranges for substitute teachers, and orients new and substitute teachers
- Assures that school, state licensing and ASEP policies and procedures are properly followed
- At a site enrolling fewer than sixty-five children, plans and provides a daily program of enriching experiences for an assigned group of children
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
Minimum
Must be at least 21 years of age and have one or more of the following:
- Valid or expired teaching certificate, or
- Associate degree or four year degree with emphasis on child development, early childhood education, psychology, sociology or directly related field with at least 12 semester hours in child development, child psychology or early childhood education, or
- At least three years experience in the administration of a licensed child care facility with a high school diploma or GED and completion of the recommended Child and Youth Development and School-Age Programming college level courses or
- At least three years experience in the administration of a licensed child care facility with a high school diploma or GED and verification of completion of the North Carolina Early Childhood Administration Credentials I and II or documentation of equivalency from the North Carolina Department of Child Development and 6.0 hours of education coursework.
- Applicants for sites serving pre-kindergarten students must have verification of completion of the North Carolina Early Childhood Administration Credentials I and II and (B) above; or verification of completion of the North Carolina Early Childhood Administration Credentials I and II and three or more years of experience in the administration of a licensed child care facility, with a high school diploma or GED and completion of the North Carolina Early Childhood Credentials or a Child Development Associate Credential and 6.0 hours of education coursework.
Preferred
- At least one year's experience working with kindergarten and elementary school age children preferred.
- Background or interest in literacy, the cultural arts, or recreation for children preferred.
Licensing / Certification Requirements:
- NC Early Childhood Credentials and BSAC within 3 months of hire
- Valid health certificate and proof of negative TB test results prior to employment start date.
