Postdoctoral Research Fellow-Perioperative Pain Management

Expected Starting Salary Range: - Salary aligns with NIH Extramural postdoctoral pay scales

REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:

A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Vidya Chidambaran. The laboratory studies the genetics, epigenetics, stress immune physiology and psychology of chronic post-surgical pain in children undergoing major surgeries. We have identified variants and epigenetic mechanisms associated with post-surgical pain and opioid induced respiratory depression and analgesia. To further evaluate underlying mechanisms and disparities, the lab is seeking a research fellow who has background/expertise in one or more of these areas -epigenetics and rna seq analyses, brain imaging, bioinformatics and immunology. The fellow will be expected to design/analyze data, interpret results, prepare manuscripts, and support grant writing efforts. PhD graduates with any combination of experience in one or more areas listed above, along with a strong publication record, and the initiative to independently drive research projects are invited to apply.

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Design, execute, and record laboratory experiments, and analyze the data.
• Research and improve current methods and evaluate innovative techniques. Implement this knowledge in the Division/Department.
• Present research at laboratory meetings, journal clubs, seminars, and meetings.
• Draft, write, and edit scientific reports, papers, journal articles, abstracts, and grants.
• Maintain currency in field through continuing education, literature, and seminars.
• Attend required Cincinnati Children’s training sessions and ensure regulatory compliance with all policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

REQUIRED
• Ph.D. in related discipline, MD, or equivalent required.
