Post Doctorate RA - Quantum Chemistry & High-Performance Computing

Responsibilities

We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher in the Physical Sciences Division at PNNL to develop and implement quantum chemistry approaches. You will work closely with quantum chemistry staff in the chemical physics theory group and computer science staff in the high-performance computing group at PNNL. This position is based at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) campus in Richland, Washington.

  • Develop and implement quantum chemistry methods combined with high-performance computing.
  • Conduct research and collaborate with other team members in a multi-institutional team.
  • Lead the manuscript development and maintain a strong overall publication record in the peer-reviewed scientific literature.
  • Present research at technical conferences and project/program review meetings.
  • Interact, communicate, and problem solve with the research staff within the multi-institutional collaboration.
  • Participate in the development of research proposals.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have received a PhD within the past five years (60 months) or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in quantum chemistry.
  • Expertise in ground and excited state electronic structure methods, electronic structure methods to simulate hybrid light-matter states.
  • Experience in parallel programming and running simulations on large HPC clusters is essential.
  • Programming skills (MPI, C++, CUDA, Python).
