The State Water Resources Control Board’s Office of Enforcement (OE) has an opening for a permanent full time Attorney Supervisor in its State Water Board Programs Legal Unit to lead a staff of attorneys in performing enforcement work in a wide variety of program areas.  OE acts as legal advisor to both the State Water Board and the nine Regional Water Boards in all matters relating to enforcement.  The position requires frequent adversarial engagement with the regulated public, stakeholders, non-governmental organizations and other government agencies.  The position location is 801 K Street, Sacramento, CA 95814. The building is a short 5-minute walk to California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA) headquarters and is conveniently located near public transportation. 801 K Street has on-site permitted parking for a monthly rate and secure bicycle parking.

Duties:

The Attorney Supervisor is responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating the work of legal staff and acts for the Assistant Chief Counsel, as needed. The Attorney Supervisor confers with management on matters of policy, procedure, and programmatic legal issues and supervises a group of subordinate attorneys who perform a wide variety of legal work, with varying levels of complexity. The Attorney Supervisor also independently handles the most complex and sensitive legal cases.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
