Data Engineer

Role: Data Engineer
Schedule: 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday
Job Type: Full-time – Remote

We are seeking a talented Data Engineer to join our team, reporting directly to the Lead Data Architect. This role involves building, maintaining, and optimizing data pipelines and ensuring the efficient flow of data across our systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing scalable data solutions that support business intelligence, analytics, and data science initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines and ETL processes to collect, process, and store large volumes of data from various sources.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into technical requirements.
  • Build and maintain efficient, scalable, and reliable data architecture, ensuring data quality and integrity throughout the pipeline.
  • Implement data governance and security best practices to protect data privacy and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Optimize data storage and retrieval, ensuring high availability and performance of databases and data warehouses.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data workflows to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
  • Work with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud to manage data infrastructure and deploy data solutions.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of data processes, architecture, and data flows.
  • Assist with creating and managing database schemas, tables, and indexes to support analytics and reporting.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum processes, providing input on technical direction and project planning.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in data engineering, with strong skills in SQL, Python, or Scala.
  • Proven experience with ETL tools like Apache NiFi, Talend, or Informatica.
  • Proficiency in working with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
  • Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka.
  • Familiarity with cloud data services (e.g., AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery, Azure Synapse).
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and data lake concepts.
  • Experience with version control systems like Git and CI/CD tools for automated data pipeline deployments.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.
