Legal Intern (Management Liability Insurance)

Job Description:

IAT Insurance Group has an opening for a Legal Intern (Management Liability Insurance) in our Newark, New Jersey or Raleigh, North Carolina location for the summer of 2025. The anticipated start date for this internship is May 27th, 2025. Through this internship you will gain experience providing legal support to the Company and our Management Liability business units and be exposed to top level executives in the field.  Please note, IAT works on a hybrid schedule, working from the office Monday through Wednesday with the option of working remotely Thursday and Friday.  

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with Management Liability Assistant Vice President and her interactions with insureds, counsel and Underwriting.
  • Review new claims for Management Liability including Employment Practices Liability, Directors & Officers liability and Fiduciary Liability.
  • Interact with Management Liability Product lead on policy interpretation and drafting new endorsements.
  • Discuss new Claims and litigation with defense counsel and provide comments/suggestions on direction of active litigation involving our insureds.
  • Complete various legal assignments regarding claim metrics and Management Liability risk analysis.
  • Attend mediations via Zoom or in person with Claims staff.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

 

Qualifications:

  • Current Law Student (all levels will be considered).
  • Ability to work a consistent schedule.
  • Ability to identify and interpret legal documents and understand legal concepts.
  • To qualify, applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and must not require VISA sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment purposes.
