Research assistant in cancer biology

The Sheltzer Lab at Yale University is seeking a research assistant for a cutting-edge project developing genomic methods to understand cancer drug resistance.

We are developing a novel platform to elucidate drug mechanisms-of-action using an innovative cell-based screening system. This high-throughput approach will help identify the targets of cancer drugs and potential resistance mechanisms, ultimately aiding in the development of more effective targeted therapies. Our project aims to address fundamental challenges in cancer drug development by providing a comprehensive system for studying a wide range of oncogenes in a controlled environment. By leveraging advanced molecular biology techniques and next-generation sequencing, we seek to create a powerful tool that can rapidly and accurately determine drug mechanisms of action. The research assistant will play a key role in generating and validating this cell-based screening platform.

Sheltzer Lab research assistants will learn and apply multiple laboratory methods, including Sheltzer Lab research assistants will learn and apply multiple laboratory methods, including molecular cloning, viral transduction, mammalian cell culture, drug screening, and next-generation sequencing. The successful candidate will have strong data analysis skills and will be comfortable performing as well as interpreting the results of laboratory experiments.

This position is ideal for recent college graduates seeking to gain additional research experience before applying to graduate school or medical school, though candidates with other backgrounds will also be considered. We are looking for a candidate who can start in January 2025 or sooner and who can commit at least 24 months to the position.
