Who We Are:

We are a Boston based, MA biotech startup that is pioneering mRNA-modulating therapies to cure a broad range of genetic diseases. Our company is exploring the use of our novel platforms in neurological disorders, heart disease, and muscular dystrophies.

We are looking for a Research Associate with an innovative mindset, keen attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively to solve problems in preclinical research and development. The successful candidate will support our scientists in the design and development of the company's novel RNA-modulating therapeutic platforms and have an opportunity to positively impact patients with serious unmet medical needs. The ideal candidate will have experience in standard molecular and cellular biology techniques and cell-based assays for molecular screening. Our work is dynamic and will require the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a fluid, fast-paced work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute and/or troubleshoot diverse assays (e.g., luciferase assay, PCR, capillary Western blots, and flow cytometry) in primary cells, cell lines, and/or rodent tissues to characterize the efficacy and safety of the company's novel therapeutics.
  • Design plasmids, molecular cloning, and plasmid DNA isolation.
  • Assist Scientists in data analysis and communication of results in written and oral presentations.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation of experiments and data in an electronic lab notebook.
  • Collaborate with other teams across the organization to support data-driven decision-making.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A BS/MS in biochemistry, molecular/cell biology, or a related discipline.
  • One year of relevant experience in an academic or industrial research laboratory.
  • Experience with a variety of molecular and cellular techniques (e.g., DNA/RNA/protein purification, PCR, Western, MSD); interest in learning additional assays and protocols.
  • Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture.
  • Experience with high throughput liquid handling systems would be highly preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Scientifically rigorous, highly organized, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
