Intervention Specialist

POSITION: INTERVENTION SPECIALIST
Contract Length: 190 Days (Salary)
Work Hours: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
Reports to: ACCA Superintendent/Director of Student Services
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supports the mission, vision, and values of Ashland County Community Academy
• Fosters an environment and culture which promotes respect, responsibility, trust, and success
• Assist in coordinating the special education program for all students with disabilities in the school
district
• Assist in implication of federal law and Ohio rules for educating students with disabilities
• Follow individual student IEPs
• Develop IEPs for students; assist in scheduling IEP conferences
• Provide classroom teachers with resources, regarding modifications and accommodations
• Collaborate with regular education teachers in the inclusion of IEP/504 students
• Serve as a member of Intervention Assistance Team (IAT ) and on IEP teams, as required
• Attend IEP and ETR meetings
• Consult with regular education teacher concerning modifications, adaptations or alternate assignments
in regular education classroom for special education students
• Assist in developing Behavior Intervention Plans for special education students
• Evaluate data to monitor progress of students
• Collaborate with the Dean of Students, Student Success Facilitator and Student Success Coach in
regards to Student Success Plans for IEP/504 Students
• Serve as a member of the Response-to-Intervention (RTI) team
• Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., student IEPs, testing information, student
and staff information
• Provide direct instruction in a resource/inclusion or tutorial setting, as needed
• Proficient Depth of Knowledge in Content Area, as well as in Learner-Centered Curriculum Design and
Instruction
• Exhibit Effective Classroom Management
• Timely Lesson Planning, Progress Reports, Grading, as well as Online Grading
• Delivers Effective and Differentiated Instruction, in relation to the school's education plan
• Continuous and productive communication with parents and students regarding progress/behavior,
including conferences
• Participates in school-wide incentives, programs, and extracurricular activities
• Participates in Continuing Education Courses and/or Professional Development, as assigned by
Assistant SuperintendenUSuperintendent
• Assumes such other responsibilities and performs other duties as may be assigned by the
Assistant Superintendent/Superintendent

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
• Valid State of Ohio Educator's License (4 Year Res. Edi 5 Year Professional)
Intervention Specialist Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe, 7-12
• Bachelor's Degree or higher
• BCI/FBI Background Check
• Commitment to excellence when assigned duties and/or responsibilities
• Ability to communicate effectively to achieve assigned duties
• Good organizational skills and time-management
• Act as an effective and positive role model among teachers/staff, and promotes team-work mentality
• Passion for quality education and high expectations for all students
• Relates to students with mutual respect
• Models district standards of ethics, confidentiality, and professionalism
