CNC Programmer

Are you an expert in CNC programming looking for an exciting and fast-paced environment? As a CNC Programmer, you will play a crucial role in our machine department, ensuring timely production to meet our demands. You will stage various production work centers, working independently, diligently, and safely. Your work will be reviewed by a supervisor or senior team member to maintain quality and accuracy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Technical Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret technical blueprints and design models.
  • Programming: Calculate and write CNC programs to fabricate component parts according to engineering specifications.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Engineering and Management teams to ensure parts meet specifications and shop drawings.
  • Program Development: Create CNC programs for production runs and modify existing programs for different machines.
  • Tooling and Settings: Choose cutting tools, determine machine speeds, and feed rates. Maintain tooling databases and make manual program adjustments as needed.
  • Machine Operation: Load raw materials, input product designs into modeling software, and adjust machine settings to desired specifications.
  • Troubleshooting: Address issues during the manufacturing process.
  • Quality Control: Conduct quality control tests during production and on the final product.
  • Maintenance: Clean and maintain CNC machines.
  • Training: Train new staff on machine operation procedures.
  • Material Planning: Read production schedules and plan material use to enhance manufacturing operations.
  • Safety and Communication: Follow all operating procedures, instructions, and safety rules. Communicate effectively during shift changes and report quality issues promptly.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Education, Work Experience, and Proficiencies

  • Minimum Education: High school diploma or GED.
  • Preferred Education: Technical or associate degree.
  • Experience:
    • Programming 3- and 5-axis CNC mills.
    • Familiarity with Mastercam and GeoPath.
    • Previous work experience as a CNC programmer.
  • Skills:
    • Ability to read and interpret design blueprints.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
    • Basic math skills.
    • Proficiency in computer modeling software.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to stand for extended periods.
    • Ability to lift heavy objects.
    • Willingness to work after-hours when required.

Physical Demands

This role involves repetitive movements, requiring standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, grasping, pushing, and pulling grating materials of various sizes and weights for long periods. Regularly lift or move up to 10-15 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds using proper techniques, assistance from other employees, or equipment.
