Middle School Language Arts Teacher

The Middle School Language Arts teacher will serve as a core member of a Middle School team committed to fulfilling the school’s vision, mission, core beliefs, and goals by collaborating regularly with the other members of the team to plan integrated units, activities, and discuss students to promote the educational needs of students in grades 6-8. .

Primary Job Functions:

  • Teaches content and skills in English language, literature, composition, and reading to middle school students.
  • Adapt English material and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments and lesson plans that guide and challenge students.
  • Evaluate academic and social growth of students, prepares report cards, keeps appropriate records to include attendance reports, checklists, census forms, and other recordkeeping activities as necessary.
  • Encourage students to think independently and to express original ideas.
  • Evaluates each student’s progress in meeting the course standards for Englishskills (listening, speaking, reading and writing).

Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will have a strong interest in educating young people. Prior experience teaching similarly aged students is preferred, but not required. All candidates must either hold a current Ohio teaching license or have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and a willingness to obtain the required teaching certification. They must also be able to pass FBI and BCI background checks and complete the Diocese of Toledo VIRTUS program.

Salary and Benefits:

This position is a part-time, salaried position with a 12-month contract including options for annual renewals. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Competitive benefits are offered to all employees including tuition discounts for school-age dependents.
