Department of the Air Force Summer Faculty Fellowship Program

Program Summary

The Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) is pleased to announce that the Summer Faculty Fellowship Program (SFFP), accepting applications for FY2025 until 31 October 2024 from qualified faculty members interested in conducting research at Department of the Air Force (DAF) Research Labs/Centers. Faculty members are highly encouraged to bring graduate students with them to participate in the research projects. Research Fellows and their students use the residencies for full-time research in the science, technology, mathematics, and engineering fields engaging in challenging research at some of our nation’s most advanced laboratories and facilities. 

The Department of the Air Force (DAF) Summer Faculty Fellowship Program offers graduate students and their professors at U.S. colleges and universities the opportunity to perform high-quality and meaningful research at AFRL Directorates, Air Force Test Centers (AFTC), the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA), or the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) for an 8-to-12 week period during the summer months (May through September). Eligibility and How You Can Participate 

Graduate students must identify a faculty member interested in applying for an SFFP Fellowship. The Faculty member is responsible for submitting the application. The graduate student must provide a graduate student form so the faculty member can submit it along with their application.  

Detailed instructions regarding eligibility, appointment requirements, the application process, etc., can be found on the SFFP website http://afsffp.sysplus.com. All applicants and students must be U.S. citizens or Dual U.S. Citizens at time of application (See Eligibility Information Page for details).
