Transformer Technician

$2,500 Sign-on Bonus

(Payable after 90 days of Employment)

Status: Hourly // Non-Exempt

 

Reports To: Department Manager

 

Primary Responsibility:

Responsible for providing service, repair and testing of transformers in workshop as well as at customer sites. This would also include but not limited to project supervision, installation, start-up, service, testing and customer satisfaction. These activities require the timely completion of these activities at/or under budgeted cost to the complete satisfaction of our customers.

 

Responsibilities / Duties:

 

  • Perform field and in-house transformer activities on oil filled and/or dry type transformers.
  • Ensure tasks are completed utilizing all necessary safety procedures and equipment.
  • Work overtime and weekends as needed to meet customer needs and/or company objectives.
  • Converse with personnel to analyze scope of work requirements, current operational procedures, identifies problems, and continuous improvements.
  • Provide technical support to customers and shop/field personnel, as necessary.
  • Capable of performing our standard electrical testing. (Doble, Winding Resistance, TTR, and Insulation Resistance)
  • Experienced and capable in one or more of the following areas: Untanking/Tanking of core and coils, re-gasketing, core iron unstacking/stacking, removal/installation of coils, lead assembly and/or tap changers with limited guidance.
  • Capable of performing oil processing/handling with limited guidance.
  • Maintain a professional attitude when representing the company during phone, or personal contact with customers, employees, outside vendors, and/or service providers, etc.
  • Advocates and abides by all quality, safety and environmental procedures and report any and all noncompliance.
  • Provide support for any special projects as assigned by Management. The special projects may or may not become part of your primary responsibilities.

Measures of Success:

  • Department efficiencies; i.e. low rework and warranty costs, manpower utilization, work completed at/or under estimated hours.
  • Customer satisfaction.
  • Meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
  • On-time completion of project(s) and service reports.

Qualifications:

 

  • Candidate must possess a high school diploma.

 

  • An in-depth knowledge of transformer repair and field service experience.

 

  • This position requires an individual experienced in field service, transformer repair and project management.

 

  • Additionally, computer skills in Excel and Word and have excellent customer interface experience.

 

  • The position demands an individual who is hard working at achieving company objectives, detail oriented, able to direct personnel in a positive manner with effective oral & written communication skills.
