Entry Level Chemist

As an ENTRY LEVEL CHEMIST, you will be responsible for working under the direction and coaching of the R&D Manager and a team of Chemists, you will undertake formulation tests and evaluation, results analysis, and results reporting, and participate in new product development.

What You’ll Do:

  • Research and Development of cement-based products or liquid based adhesives.
  • Sets up and operates laboratory equipment for analysis and physical testing.
  • Utilize correct processes from clearly described methods, past practices or instruction.
  • Ensure observations and conclusions are well organized, reported and documented.
  • Works individually, or in teams as necessary, to meet schedule and deadlines.
  • Accurately record and report experimental data according to established guidelines
  • Understand and appropriately use MSDS’s.
  • Use chemicals, materials and equipment safely, following Chemical Hygiene Plan, lab SOPs, and procedures described in the Ardex Hazard Communication, Aliquippa site.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Capable of grasping technical concepts and ability to apply logical observational process.
  • Ability to recognize anomalous results and bring them to the attention of the Chemists.
  • Presents ideas clearly and concisely both verbally and written.
  • Is customer focused – internal and external; principle focus will typically be internal customers.
  • Positive, enthusiastic attitude
  • Demonstrates good mechanical or hands-on skills.  Able to operate power and non-power tools.
  • Flexibility in adjusting to changing requirements.
  • Excellent listening and problem-solving skills.      Must be able to follow directions from R&D Manager and Chemists
  • Must be proficient in Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Occasional over-night travel to manufacturing plants for production trials 
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Your Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Polymer Science, and/or Materials Science required.
