Community Corrections Specialist

GENERAL SUMMARY

The purpose of this job is to maintain department documentation in electrical and physical filing systems. Monitors department software systems to assign clients, create reports, and enter case notes. Utilizes and updates the accounting system to produce weekly reports. Performs client intakes, assessments, and specimen collection. Monitors drug testing database for use by Supervisor-Drug Testing, Pretrial Services Officers, and Programming Services Officers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains digital and physical office documents, files, and accounting according to departmental retainment protocols.
  • Conducts client intakes, assessments, and specimen collections; maintains the chain of custody for specimens and other materials. 
  • Manages and updates judicial and department systems to assign clients, create reports, update drug-testing results, and document case notes. 
  • Liaises between the courts, correctional facilities, probation officers, and other relevant judicial system agencies and programs. 
  • Supports the Community Corrections Advisory Board by reviewing FOIA requests and testifying in judicial proceedings about drug testing protocol and procedures. 
  • Monitors, maintains, and purchases office supplies and equipment. 
  • Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience

  • At least two years of relevant college-level course work or an associate degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice, Sociology, or a related field
  • 1 to 3 years of related work experience in social work 
  • Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities
