The State of New Hampshire, Department of Information Technology, Infrastructure & Operations Division - Network Operations has a full time vacancy for Network Engineer/Technical Support Specialist V.

SUMMARY: 

Responsible for maintenance and troubleshooting of Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), Unified Communications hardware, software, and related data communications links. Assists in the implementation and development of LAN/WAN, Unified Communications solutions and creates documentation, standards and procedures to support those systems. Works with Agency representatives to troubleshoot and maintain data/voice communication and connectivity solutions. This position provides installation, maintenance and troubleshooting efforts for Unified Communications systems statewide.

18 Months of additional relevant experience = Associate's degree 

36 Months of additional relevant experience = Bachelor's degree 

54 Months of additional relevant experience = Master's degree 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university with a major study in mathematics, computer science, business administration, or a related degree field with at least fifteen (15) credit hours in the field of computer science. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

Experience: Six years' experience in computer programming or design, three years of which shall have been concerned with the development and maintenance of a complex operating system. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

License/Certification: CCNA or equivalent experience desired. Must be eligible to hold a valid New Hampshire driver's license and have access to transportation for use in statewide travel. Must pass initial and periodic criminal background checks at the discretion of the State of NH DOP and management.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Position requires in-depth experience with Cisco Powered Networks, MPLS-VPN, SSL-VPN, NAC and Client/Server architecture in a TCP/IP environment, very good knowledge of data communications and internetworking, strong technical analytical skills and the ability to function independently in a demanding environment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Temporary schedule changes or off hours work (non-business hours), including overtime, may be required to allow for planned installations and upgrades or for other work that cannot be done without major disruption to users and network systems within core business hours. In-State travel may be required."

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Evaluates, recommends, installs and maintains LAN/WAN hardware and software, including Routers, Switches, Firewalls, IP Phones, Call Managers, Voice Gateways and WAN Connections.

 

Performs diagnosis, troubleshooting and oversees resolution of network problems.
 

Diagnoses and troubleshoots and resolves problems with communications links, including but not limited to LAN Switching, Routing Protocols, MPLS Networks, various Cisco IOS Platforms (IOS, IOS-XE, IOS-XR, NX-OS, ASA, Wireless Controllers & Access-Points).
 

Monitors and reviews utilization of LAN/WAN hardware and software for performance optimization, security, and short-term and long-term capacity planning.Researches and evaluates utilization rate data to determine long-range equipment and software needs.
 

Researches and executes implementation of connectivity solutions to supported agencies as part of a cross functional team.
 

Monitors and identifies trends on network-related support requests, taking action as necessary to ensure timely responses and minimal interruptions. Monitors, configures Networking Software CA Spectrum, Cisco Prime (LMS, NCS), Cisco ISE NAC, Cisco Unified Communications Operations Manager-Service Monitor. Configures and provides reports upon request.
 

Interfaces with other groups to define design criteria, ensuring the State Network will meet the development efforts regarding security, performance and standards.
 

Maintain and troubleshoot Cisco SSL VPN systems and two-factor authentication infrastructure. Work with end-users to resolve SSL VPN connectivity issues.
 

Directs, designs and implements recovery and backup activities to insure data integrity and system recoverability.

Prepares and delivers presentations as necessary outlining problems identified and solutions developed.

Selected candidate will undergo a fingerprint-based criminal background check and motor vehicle record check in order to ensure suitability for exposure to confidential information.
