Fall Co-op/Data Science

Department Description:

The Process Engineering and Analytics department is a group of scientists, engineers, programmers and modelers working to create and implement solutions that accelerate drug product development. 

Job Description:

We are looking for a motivated and engaged co-op to join our team in drug product development. The primary focus for this role will be data wrangling, building pipelines and building visualizations in Spotfire or Power BI to enable drug product development scientists to make good decisions from generated data.

As a co-op you will develop an understanding of how to translate a business process into technical requirements. Further, you will understand how to actualize these technical requirements into a proof of concept that can provide tangible proof of value. There will also be opportunities to communicate technical solutions across a large department. The business knowledge gained through this co-op alongside knowledge of ALCOA+ principles will provide strong interdisciplinary skills for a data focused career in the pharmaceutical industry.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a MS or PhD in Data Science, Bioinformatics, or similar disciplines.
  • Proficiency with a programming language such as Python, C#.
  • Proficient or taken courses on data visualization.
  • Must be able to work full-time (35-40 hours/week) throughout the duration of the 12-month co-op (September 2024 - September 2025).
  • Must have an active student status and/or within 12 months post-graduation from a BS or MS degree program. Post-doctoral candidates are not eligible. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Has a B.S. in a biological science or engineering area
  • Proficient in Python coding
  • Proficient with Spotfire and Power BI

Benefits:

  • While GSK embraces a flexible work environment, we do require certain positions to be onsite. Candidates who are hired for an on-site role or hybrid role, and reside outside of 50-miles from their assigned work location, are eligible for relocation stipend. This is a one-time payment to help offset housing & relocation expenses. Please refer to the position details for the requirements of each position.
