NOAA Corps Officer
In my opinion, our career is one of the best kept secrets in the Federal government. We're trained to operate NOAA's fleet of ships, aircraft, automated underwater vehicles, drones (etc.) to collect scientific data. Experience on ships and aircraft are not required, but certainly are considered. There are a lot of different opportunities (e.g. dive operations, Antarctica Station Chief) that are too numerous to include in this email, but if you're interested in learning more, I can provide you with a 15 minute presentation (noaacorps.recruiting@noaa.gov), or you can view our recruiting video to get a sense of what we’re about. The main requirements to apply are 48 STEM related credits with your bachelor's degree, and to be an American citizen, and online applications can be submitted to Apply Now. Visit our NOAA Corps Website to learn more. Starting salary is approximately $50-80K depending on the housing allowance commensurate with assignment location. Yearly wage increases and periodic promotions are the same as the military branches.
We have two remaining application opportunities for 2025 Officer Training Classes (BOTC) in 2025. The current application is for the class that begins in April and the next cycle is for the September class. Learn more about the timeline here.
Very respectfully,
LCDR Andy Reynaga
