DesignWorks Specialist

Remote or Hybrid in Pella, Iowa

Come join a small, but mighty team! Pella DesignWorks offers a design service that stretches across the nation to independently owned sales branches. The teams visualize Pella products on real photos for sales consultants and homeowners in the retail, trade, and commercial space with the goal of landing the sale. In addition to designs, the program offers design inspired lunch and learns, newsletters, on-site design events, and branch level training that is created collaboratively. The Pella DesignWorks Specialist works from a design queue in project management software and may work directly with the homeowner or sales consultant. The design process spans from inspiration to providing renderings, revisions, and virtual consultations; as well as working on marketing and activities around activating usage and engagement at the sales branch level. The program is new and growing and we are excited to see where new technologies and AI will take the service next.

This position will continually strive to go above and beyond for the sales branch, as well as the homeowner. You will work collaboratively with the new design team on establishing best practices, creating marketing opportunities, and identifying opportunities to extend the design services to provide better services. Pella design, software, and product training will be provided for the right candidate.  

 

The primary purpose of this position is to:

o   Design requests from the project queue utilizing web based proprietary software and Adobe PhotoShop.

o   Act as subject matter expert in digital design with overall knowledge of Pella’s entire corporate offering.

o   Work with sales consultants, contractors, and homeowners in various stages of the exterior design process.

o   Collaborate with internal design team on current design needs and trends.

o   Find ways to optimize design process from start-to-finish.

o   Identify, understand, and communicate metrics pertaining to design leads and conversions to sale.

o   Responsible for the implementation of training, tools, communication, and processes that drive sustainable branch growth.

o   Monitors sales branches metrics to demonstrate sustainable growth through design.

 

Required Skills/Knowledge

o   Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

o   Design skills and/or training in the exterior residential industry preferred.

o   Intense focus on providing a high level of customer service.

o   Creative, collaborative, and energetic approach to problem-solving.

o   Self-motivated, team-oriented, and well organized.

o   Adaptable and able to thrive in an evolving environment.

o   Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

o   Ability to use the Pella Quoting Management system (PQM) in conjunction with Salesforce to complete designs.

o   Design software skills– Adobe PhotoShop or relevant software.

o   Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or (BFA) from four-year college or university or equal experience in Communications, Design, and/or Marketing preferred.

o   Able to travel to sales branches if necessary.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Individual’s motor vehicle record must also comply with company requirements.  Must have the ability to manage multiple tasks in an environment of constant interruptions and be able to prioritize responsibilities. 

Language and Communication Skills

Ability to read and analyze documents related to contracts and work documents.  Ability to write reports and business correspondence.  Ability to verbally present information and respond to questions from customers, managers, and the general public. 

Professional Skills

Must present a clean and neat physical appearance and strictly abide by company dress code serving as a role model for other employees, customers, and visitors.

Reasoning Abilities

Ability to solve practical and arithmetic problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 

Physical Demands 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to drive an automobile, stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.  The noise level in the work environment varies between low to moderate in administrative offices and to moderate on constructions sites.

Travel

Able to travel to PDSN branches if necessary. Must be able to travel to and drive to showrooms, job sites and customer/contractor locations and required company functions at various locations.
