Truck Dealership Management Trainee

SUMMARY

The Dealership Trainee program is a structured development program for high energy, team oriented, and competitive individual pursing leadership opportunities in the fast paced heavy duty truck industry.  This program is designed to develop a pool of skilled team members eligible for postings in Sales Account Management and Assistant Management positions within the Hunter Truck network of dealerships.  Upon successful completion of the Dealership Trainee program the candidate will be assigned to a role within the Hunter Truck dealership network on the defined career path where their skills will continue development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Successfully complete training program with rotations in each department of the organization: Parts, Service, Truck Sales, Leasing, Finance and Corporate departments.

(Training modules expose the trainee to key departmental positions where they will learn policy, procedure, and skills necessary to function in each of those roles. Demonstrated competency in each key departmental position is required for progression to next module and provides a well-rounded understanding of each department and how the departments interact with each other to provide the best possible customer experience and attain defined company goals.) 

Establish and maintain positive working relationships with Hunter Truck management teams, customers, and vendors.

Attend OEM, Vendor, dealership sponsored events and training as required.  This will require travel and evening or occasional weekend assignments.

Complete required training and obtain Commercial Driver’s License from the state where you reside.

Demonstrate competence, skill, flexibility and ability to multi-task in each training module before progressing to the next phase.

Demonstrate competence in small group / team leadership, problem resolution, customer care, creative thinking, solutions formulation, group presentation skills, project development and execution / implementation.

Participation in weekly recap meetings with Department Manager, bi-weekly with General Manager, monthly with Corporate Support Managers, V.P., and Mentor.

Upon successful completion of the Dealership Trainee program relocation within the Hunter Truck dealership network may be required for the next assigned role.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

College Degree preferred, or 2 years work experience in the heavy duty truck or related industry.  Strong interpersonal skills are necessary as well as strong customer service skills and basic truck knowledge. Must be fluent in Microsoft Office Applications and the Internet; must be able to type. Successful candidate will have high energy and a self-driven personality with attention to detail.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Have the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Have the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Have the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

CDL preferred; must meet company insurability standards

Valid Driver's License required; must meet company insurability standards

Vehicle Sales License if required in state (can obtain upon hire)
