Fall 2024 Process Improvement Internship Business Affairs Business Service Center Student Assistant

The Business Affairs Business Service Center (BA BSC) provides non-student facing financial management and transactional processing services and support to the President’s Office, Business Affairs, University Relations and Inclusive Excellence.

What you’ll do:

BA BSC is opening doors for a highly motivated intern with interest to develop in a very demanding environment. During your internship program in the UTSA Administration and Operations Department, you will be providing support in key aspects such as administrative, process, project, reporting, data and business analysis. As a Process Improvement Intern you will be communicating widely on a University level with people from different departments, thus gaining practical skills and knowledge in a fast-paced business environment. Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Develops detailed work breakdown structures of project activities into an integrated plan and helps manage time-based deliverables
  • Utilizes online tools to develop, maintain and communicate out project status to team members
  • Assists specialists in the development of detailed Value Stream maps with the aim of optimizing business flows
  • Is able to effectively present to team members and management
  • Collaborates with team members to collect and analyze data and transform into information
  • Works with data analysts to evaluate date sets for trends and assists in subsequent activities pertaining to Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Actions

What you’ll need:

 

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Master’s degree 3rd Year of University completed-typically Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Management, Public Administration, Data Analytics.
  • Enrolled in a Internship Course for the Fall 2024 semester
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Structured work approach
  • Solution oriented
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to operate effectively within a virtual (cross-cultural) team
  • Proactive and able to work under pressure
  • Pass a Criminal Background Check

 

What we’d prefer you bring:

 

  • Very good command of MS Office products - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Visio, and Smartsheets
  • Process knowledge is an advantage
  • Good/excellent communication skills
