Social Media Intern

About Us:

The Cleveland Observer (TCO) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization funded through membership dues, subscriptions and donations, which provides and promotes civic, cultural, social, educational and recreational development and improvement in urban neighborhoods in Cleveland, Ohio.  We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic Social Media Intern to join our team and help us enhance our online presence.

Job Summary:

The Social Media Intern will assist in the development and implementation of our social media strategies. This role will involve creating content, managing social media accounts, and engaging with our online community. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, passionate about social media, and eager to learn about digital marketing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Content Creation: Develop and curate engaging content for various social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and Pinterest.
  • Social Media Management: Assist in managing and updating the company's social media profiles and presence.
  • Community Engagement: Interact with followers, respond to queries and comments, and engage with potential and current customers.
  • Analytics and Reporting: Monitor social media metrics, provide regular reports on performance, and offer insights to optimize strategies.
  • Campaign Support: Assist in planning and executing social media campaigns, contests, and promotions.
  • Research: Stay up-to-date with social media trends, tools, and best practices, and share relevant insights with the team.
  • Administrative Support: Perform administrative tasks related to social media as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of social media platforms and trends.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Creative thinking and the ability to develop engaging content.
    • Basic knowledge of social media analytics tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer, Google Analytics).
    • Familiarity with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Photoshop) is a plus.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Enthusiastic and eager to learn about digital marketing.
