Job Title: Air Force Public Health Officer - Entomology

Location: Various Air Force bases nationwide

Job Description:

Join the elite team of the United States Air Force as a Public Health Officer specializing in Entomology through the Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP). In this role, you will play a vital role in safeguarding the health and well-being of our nation's Air Force personnel and their families by managing and mitigating risks associated with vector-borne diseases.

Responsibilities:

- Conduct comprehensive entomological surveys to identify and assess potential threats posed by disease-carrying vectors.
- Develop and implement innovative strategies for vector control and disease prevention.
- Provide expert consultation to military leaders on matters related to entomology and public health.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance force health protection measures.
- Conduct research to advance the understanding of vector-borne diseases and their control methods.
- Educate military personnel and civilian populations on preventive measures to minimize vector-borne disease transmission.

Qualifications:

- Master's degree or Doctorate in Entomology with a Bachelor's degree in biology, entomology, microbiology or zoology.
- Bachelor degrees in other biological sciences, and Master's degree or Doctorates in disciplines related to, or with an emphasis in Entomology will be considered on a case-by-case basis
- Eligible for commission as an officer in the United States Air Force.
- Strong background in entomology, vector biology, and public health.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
- US citizenship is required.
