Clerk of Municipal Court
Summary of Position:
This position provides supervisory, management and administrative support for the operations of the Municipal Court. Some major duties include:
- Prepares cases for court sessions, arraignment sessions, prisoner sessions and trial sessions; enters pleas and judgments.
- Enters convictions in an accurate and timely manner; transfers files information to the Drivers License Division and the Police Department; prepares bench warrants, judgments, jail orders, conditions documents, not-guilty papers, court appointed applications, and plea agreements.
- Balances receipts and prepares deposits; maintains related records.
- Prepares annual budget requests and manages assigned funds.
- Trains, assigns, schedules, directs, supervises, evaluates and disciplines personnel.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
- Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years’ experience or service.
- Bachelors degree with 3-5 years of customer service experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
