Football Analytics Intern

JOB SUMMARY:

The Football Analytics Intern will assist in the use of quantitative methods to uncover insights and inform decision making on the topics of game analysis, player evaluation, team construction, and performance. The internship will be conducted on-site in Green Bay, WI from mid-July 2024 to mid-June 2025.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Analyze large amounts of football data to provide insight, support decision making, and drive operational efficiency
  • Contribute to weekly game planning analysis, metric creation, and other research projects
  • Assist in the management of analytics infrastructure to ensure data accuracy
  • Create visualizations and reports to clearly communicate information
  • Assist in data collection and other ad-hoc projects, as requested

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in a quantitative field
  • Experience developing statistical and/or machine learning models (experience with Bayesian methods a plus)
  • Knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts (experience with dbt a plus)
  • Knowledge of a programming language for data analysis (Python preferred)
  • Experience working with player tracking and/or football data a plus
  • Familiarity with football rules and strategy a plus
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to think creatively to develop innovative solutions to problems
  • Ability and willingness to work non-traditional hours within a team environment

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for periods of time.
  • Ability to focus on projects for periods of time.
  • Operates in a professional office environment.
  • Role routinely uses standard office equipment.
