R&D Scientist II

Position:         R&D Scientist II

Location:       Carlsbad, CA - 92008

Duration:       6 Months

Work Type:  Onsite

Shift:              Monday to Friday from 08:00 AM to 05:00 PM

 

Position Objective

  • Be part of a dedicated group of scientists validating conjugated antibodies for flow cytometry.
  • This scientist will be expected to work in a highly collaborative team environment, supporting projects with the supervision of senior scientists.
  • Projects may include, but not be limited to, cell culture, validation of conjugated antibodies for flow cytometry, multi-parameter panel design and optimization, and validation of flow cytometry reagents.

What will you do?

  • The successful individual will directly interact with senior R&D scientists and project leaders to execute project work plans.
  • The scientist will be responsible for supporting or executing these plans to meet agreed-upon deliverables and timelines.
  • These activities will require a high level of independence as well as the ability to work in a highly cooperative team.

This role will involve the following tasks:

  • Validate and support the commercialization of new reagents for flow cytometry
  • Use knowledge of immune cell phenotypes to independently design experiments
  • Conduct basic-to-intermediate troubleshooting
  • Maintain mammalian cell cultures, working with both primary cells and cell lines, including the preparation of human and mouse primary immune cells
  • Maintain a clean and safe laboratory
  • Perform other responsibilities to support the needs of the team, as assigned

Capabilities and Competencies

  • Must have hands-on experience performing multi-color flow cytometry experiments, including sample preparation of primary immune cells for immunophenotyping, data collection on digital instrumentation, and analysis of results
  • Experience with spectral flow cytometry is strongly preferred
  • Experience preparing and culturing human and mouse primary immune cells and familiarity with the basic phenotypes of primary immune cell subsets
  • Must be able to independently design and execute experiments and conduct basic to intermediate troubleshooting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and FlowJo software
  • Strong time management skills and flexibility to meet changing priorities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of working within a multi-disciplinary team to support a positive work environment
  • Experience working within a Quality Measurement System (QMS) environment using Good Documentation Practice (GDP) and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, and related fields
  • Prior 1 year of experience in the product development industry is required.
  • 1-2 years of hands-on flow cytometry experience, spectral flow cytometry experience required
