Operations Intern

 

Background: This paid internship is funded by the Serving the City Internships program and is available only to students at Fordham College at Lincoln Center and Fordham College at Rose Hill who will be enrolled throughout the internship. Students enrolled in other schools at Fordham or who will graduate or transfer before the internship end date are not eligible.

 

Primary Responsibility:  The Development Intern will help to execute a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy in support of the Development Office and its fundraising initiatives. These initiatives will support our Scholarships, including our flagship program, Be A Student’s Friend, General Assistance Programs, and Emergency Tuition Assistance program.

 

Direct Supervisor:  Inner-City Scholarship Fund, Manager of Sponsorship Operations 

Start Date: June 10, 2024              

End Date:   May 13, 2025

 

The Operations Intern is expected to be in person for 12-20 hours weekly.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support the operations team in operational processes and procedures for all incoming student programs supported by the Archdiocese.
  • Collaborate with the Operations staff to track graduation percentages and report card improvements for sponsor-level updates.
  • Review and revise copy content for accuracy and quality, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and syntax.
  • Collaborate with the Archdiocese of New York Offices via Inner-City with guidance from the Operations team and messaging across all channels.
  • Assist with any ad hoc student letters and mailings.
  • Perform special projects as needed.

 

Qualifications:

  • Current Fordham College at Rose Hill or Fordham College at Lincoln Center student
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • A collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Ability to process and implement creative feedback.
  • Understanding of the mission and values of the Catholic Church
  • Passion for youth development and the organization's mission
  • Must be at least a Sophomore or Junior student

 

Personal Characteristics:

  • Interested in learning about non-profit fundraising and sponsorships.
  • Able to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Organized self-starter and team player with a positive attitude
  • Ability to proactively work in a fast-paced team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
