Accountant- Central Finance- Provisional

Minimum Qualifications of Education and Experience

**** This is a full-time provisional position until 1/10/2025.  ****

Expected starring salary is $30.31 to $40.47. Full salary range $30.31 to $50.62.
 

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or related business field.

OR

Associate's degree from an accredited college in accounting or related business field and two (2) years of paid, full-time experience in a similar position as listed in the work functions.

OR

Combination of education and experience equivalent to four (4) years of experience in a similar position as listed in the work functions.

Regular and reliable attendance is a necessary component of job/position. Individuals required to use County vehicles and equipment must have a valid driver's license and be free of any major traffic violations for the last three (3) years.

Nature of Work

Under general supervision, this position involves self-directed work providing accounting support, budget preparation and financial analysis to operational managers.  Forecasts year-end financial results on an interim basis and produces financial statements and reports. 

Examples of Work

  • Supports operational managers in ongoing monitoring and maintenance of budget.
  • Assists operational managers in project development costs and annual budget preparation (including analysis of historical revenues and expenses).
  • Prepares journal entries, reviews reports, and verifies transactions for accuracy.  May involve reconciliation, support of accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll transactions.
  • Provides advice and data to operational managers to support sound decisions. Investigates variances from projected expenditures and/or revenues and works with department staff to recommend corrective actions.
  • Gathers and processes financial details to provide interim and year-end financial statements and reports; and additional projects as needed.
  • Ensures grant setup and reporting requirements are followed.
  • Makes recommendations and assists in the implementation of initiatives to enhance/streamline processes and better utilize technology.
  • Prepares and maintains organized procedures.
  • Assists with internal control and financial audits.
  • Promotes a diverse, culturally competent, and respectful workplace.
  • Performs other duties as required.
