Bookkeeper Intern

Position Overview

Under the direction of the Financial Controller, the Bookkeeper Intern position is responsible for all accounts receivable functions and oversight, such as payment tracking, general ledger entry, bank reconciliations, month end reporting, etc. Perform other accounting duties as assigned. 

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Examine accounting records and other financial reports to assess accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards (i.e., GAAP, FASB) rules, regulations, and systems of internal controls. 
  • Protects organization's values by keeping information confidential.
  • Prepares and posts daily/monthly/adjusting journal entries. 
  • Record daily cash activity, summarize, and analyze monthly. 
  • Develop and implement a proper record keeping process, while making use of current technologies.
  • Analyzes information and options by developing and maintaining excel spreadsheets to track and verify information.
  • Identify areas for improvement and make suggestions for improvements. 
  • Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
  • Engages in continuous learning to remain current in information and technology to aid in overall job performance. 
  • Travel to other site locations may be required. Mileage is reimbursed per policy. 
  • Learn other fiscal roles/jobs to be backup if needed. 
  • Providers support and guidance to other members of the accounting department. 
  • Attends all site and organizational meetings and maintains a physical presence in the assigned administration office. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Current student majoring in Business or Accounting  (close to graduation)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit in a normal seated position for extended periods of time. 
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds. 
  • Ability to push, pull, carry, lift, bend, twist, reach, sit, stand for lengthy periods of time; ability to walk for extended periods of time.
