Commodity Buyer
Responsible for leading purchasing activities for production items, including budget planning, RFQ review, supplier selection, and follow up.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead and process all sourcing actions.
- Conduct analysis on supplier quotes based on pricing, quality, delivery, and commercial ratings, including completion of Initial Sourcing Rationale.
- Conduct lowest delivered cost analysis and negotiate and issue sourcing contracts (SNL) with suppliers.
- Participate in the development of global commodity strategies for the identified commodities.
- Manage the overall strategic and transactional relationships with the suppliers including, but not limited to, price increases, stop-ships, payments and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).
- Execute plans to deliver cost savings to meet annual targets.
- Initiate Early Sourcing Target Agreement (ESTA) with key suppliers.
- Maintain the records regarding material price and scheduling agreements.
- Support customer and internal Launch Readiness Reviews via Program Manager.
- Participate in Commodity Strategy development.
Years of Experience:
- 0- 3+ years in Commodity Purchasing
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or Engineering program
Desired Competencies, Experience, & Qualifications:
- Strong negotiation skills resulting in delivered cost reductions.
- Strong analytical experience and data modeling using Excel.
- Program Purchasing and/or Program Management experience a plus.
- Ability to multitask and manage several projects and assignments simultaneously.
- High sense of urgency and commitment to meeting deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work product is critical.
- Demonstrated effective communication skills both written and verbal.
- Experience in climate systems commodities preferred

- Occasional travel required (domestic and international)
