Elementary Turnaround Teacher

Position Overview:   

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Turnaround Teacher to join our dynamic team for the upcoming academic year. As a Turnaround Teacher at Summit Academy in Dayton, OH, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality instruction to students within a blended grade level classroom and contributing to our positive school culture. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards and a suite of curricular resources.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students within a blended grade level classroom.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes academic growth and social-emotional development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and support staff to support student success.
  • Utilize technology and innovative teaching strategies to enhance learning experiences.
  • Provide social-emotional and instructional support to students with disabilities; a special education certification is not required.
  • Adhere to individualized education plans (IEPs) and 504 plans to support students with diverse learning needs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field is required, master’s degree preferred.
  • A valid teaching license in Ohio is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of classroom experience is required.
  • A willingness to provide social-emotional and instructional support to students with disabilities; a special education certification is not required.
  • Effective communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are required.
  • The ability to show a record of student improvement using student assessment data (e.g., STAR, NWEA, or state testing results) is required.

 

Additional Information: 

  • August 2024 Report Date: Successful candidates will begin in August 2024, ahead of other schools in the region.
  • Starting Salaries:
  •  
    • Certified Teachers: $65,000
    • Dual Certified (General Ed and SPED) Teachers: $75,000
    • Nationally Board-Certified Teachers: $75,000
  • Professional Development: Opportunities for ongoing professional growth and development will be provided.
  • Community Engagement: Engage with a supportive community of educators and management dedicated to student success.
