AmeriCorps VISTA Program

AmeriCorps VISTA was founded as Volunteers in Service to America in 1965 as a national service program designed specifically to fight poverty in America. In 1993, VISTA was incorporated into the AmeriCorps network of programs under the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS). AmeriCorps VISTA Members make a year-long, full-time commitment to serve on a specific project at a nonprofit organization or public agency. They focus their efforts to build the organizational, administrative, and financial capacity of organizations that fight illiteracy, improve health services, foster economic development, and otherwise assist low-income communities.

Virginia Housing Alliance VISTA Project

Virginia Housing Alliance’s (VHA) AmeriCorps VISTA project is a statewide intermediary project with 1 Host Sites, all that either work to expand affordable housing opportunities and/or end homelessness throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. VHA’s VISTA project aims to develop viable communities by promoting integrated approaches that provide decent housing, suitable living environments, and expand economic opportunities for low and moderate-income persons. Resident Services AmeriCorps VISTA at AHC Inc

Affordable Homes and Communities (AHC) develops affordable housing while helping residents of their communities thrive through Resident Services (RS). The RS cornerstones are Education and Youth Development, Economic Mobility, Community Building and Engagement, and Health and Wellness and these focuses allow our residents to thrive. AHC seeks a motivated individual to serve as the RS VISTA and focus on data analysis, capturing resident feedback, spearheading resident-centric initiatives, and supporting implementation and adaptation of best practices in service delivery across AHC’s Resident Services (RS) four program areas. The VISTA member will work collaboratively designing surveys and community scans, developing data management plans, and designing quality assurance manuals and training models. A dedicated VISTA member will allow AHC to further upgrade systems and overall capacity to better implement best practices in fundraising, resident services, and data analysis.

Member Duties: The VISTA member will work with the RS Manager of Data Analytics to evaluate standardized data entry procedures and protocols for Family Metrics, RS’s data tracking system create and implement a plan to enhance data entry procedures, create data entry training for RS leadership, and site staff, and collaborate with team leads to aggregate and visualize RS data in reporting vital to tracking Key Performance Indicators. The VISTA will establish data entry protocols as well as implement a training process on these data standards for Resident Services staff. In addition to these activities, the VISTA will provide logistical support for program development and implementation, research proposal, and grant opportunities, support partnership development and build internal division capacity.

Living Allowance: The AHC Inc VISTA will receive a $1,036 bi-weekly living allowance.
