ODNR owns and manages state parks, state forests, state nature preserves and wildlife areas. We license all hunting, fishing and watercraft; oversee and permit all mineral extraction, monitor dam safety, manage water resources and serve as the second largest Law Enforcement presence in the State of Ohio.

We are accepting applications for three (3) Wildlife Communication Specialists within the Division of Wildlife, assigned to Franklin, Greene, or Summit Counties. The addresses are:  1500 Dublin Rd, Columbus Ohio (Franklin County), 3570 Houston Rd, Waynesville, Ohio 45068 (Greene County), and 912 Portage Lakes Dr., Akron Ohio 44319 (Summit County).  To learn more about Ohio Division of Wildlife.

What you will do…

The Division of Wildlife’s mission is to conserve and improve fish and wildlife resources and their habitats for sustainable use and appreciation by all.
 

  • Conduct wildlife educational programming and clinics
  • Write, edit and prepare educational materials and media
  • Coordinate with volunteer wildlife educators in presentations and outreach
  • Coordinate educational outreach for the Division of Wildlife Staff
  • Point of contact for media inquiries within the district, as well as being responsible for creating news releases to be distributed to local media outlets

Starting hourly pay of $23.49/hr with multiple pay increases over your first 5.5 years of service and an ending salary of $30.55/hr.

Qualifications

 

24 mos. training or 24 mos. exp. in wildlife education or fish &/or wildlife management AND 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in public relations.

-Or completion of undergraduate core program in wildlife education or fish &/or wildlife management AND  6 mos.  training or 6 mos. exp. in wildlife education or fish &/or wildlife management AND  1 course or 3 mos. exp. in public relations.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
