Research Laboratory Specialist - Clinical Metabolomics
The Host-Microbe Metabolomics Facility within the Duchossois Family Institute (DFI) at the University of Chicago is hiring for a Research Laboratory Specialist. The Specialist will work in a CLIA regulated laboratory analyzing samples by liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LC-MS) for a DFI liver disease clinical trial. In addition to this work, the Specialist will work with the team to advance the technologies of the facilities!
This is a great opportunity to study the gut microbiome in the context of human health.
Preferred Qualifications
Education:
- Degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, bioengineering, biomedical engineering, biochemistry, biology, or related field from an accredited institution.
- A Masters degree in one of the above fields is desired.
Experience:
- Developing quantitative measurements of small molecules using triple quadrupole instrumentation.
- Developing targeted metabolomic analysis using mass spectrometry.
- Reporting quantitative data for quality control in a regulated environment desired.
Technical Skills or Knowledge:
- Experience with chromatography and mass spectrometry techniques including GCMS and LCMS.
- Experience utilizing basic chemical and biochemical knowledge towards the measurement and/or characterization of small molecules using mass spectrometry.
