Please note: this position is paid on an hourly basis and limited to 1500 hours per calendar year. The salary range for Scientific Aid is $17.21 - $20.43 per hour.

The San Diego Water Board’s has an opening for a Scientific Aid in the Wetland and Riparian Protection Unit (WRPU). The position is located at 2375 Northside Drive, Suite 100, San Diego.

Under the direct supervision of the supervisor of the WRPU, the Scientific Aid will assist in supporting the unit staff with receiving, tracking, inventorying, and reviewing dredge and/or fill application, self-monitoring reports, and other technical report submittals for the dredge and fill program. Job duties will include assisting in the assessment of compliance with permit requirements, enforcement orders, and federal and state water quality laws policies and regulations.

Duties:

Under the direct supervision of Senior Water Resource Control Engineer and consistent with good customer service practices and the goals of the State and Regional Board’s Strategic Plan, the incumbent is expected to be courteous and provide timely responses to internal/external customers, follow through on commitments, and to solicit and consider internal/external customer input when completing work assignments. The Scientific Aid will assist in supporting the Wetland and Riparian Protection Unit staff with receiving, tracking, inventorying, and reviewing dredge and/or fill application, self-monitoring reports, and other technical report submittals for the dredge and fill program.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
