Position Summary

Responsible for overseeing the full grant fundraising process through government and philanthropic foundation sources and maintaining relationships with funders Hope and Healing Survivor Resource Center (H&H).

Job Description 

Required Education, Experience and Qualifications

  • Completion of Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Communications, Business, or related field or an equivalent of these skills through formal education and life skills or work experience
  • Prior experience in non-profit grant management required, 3-5 years preferred. 
  • Prior experience in government, public policy advocacy, or government relations, 5-7 years preferred
  • Maintain valid Ohio driver’s license and ability to meet agency requirements for driving insurability.
  • Must be able to meet agency requirements for criminal background check (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Federal Bureau of Investigations).

Role and Responsibilities

Grants Management

  • Leads the effort to investigate grant opportunities for the agency.
  • Responsible for identifying and leading the effort to secure innovative and transformational grants to advance the strategic plan.
  • Directs oversight of portfolio of federal, state, local and foundation grants, including monitoring fiscal responsibility, ensuring the grant funds are used for the specific purpose and that required reports are completed and submitted on time.
  • Develops processes and procedures for selecting grants appropriate for application and works with program and administrative staff to determine suitability of grants.
  • Stays informed of federal grant regulations and changes to regulations, developing and revising federal grant policies to ensure system practices and policies are compliant.
  • Designs and executes a grant monitoring process to ensure all preparatory, ongoing and closing grant requirements are met.
  • Serves as liaison as appropriate with the grantor and departments who are grantees.
  • Coordinates with Leadership team to develop annual strategic plan for grant applications.
  • Looks for opportunity to streamline and eliminate redundancy.

  • Represent Hope & Healing agencies, Battered Women’s Shelter, and Rape Crisis Center, by participating in community activities, coalitions and taskforce groups as requested or assigned by supervisor.  
  • Complies with agency policies and procedures, federal and state requirements, and educational/certification/registry requirements. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Work environment:  This position will be in a facility with victims of domestic violence or sexual assault.  In addition to interaction with the survivors, the employee may have interactions with families of these individuals, the assailants and law enforcement. 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

  • Monday – Friday Normal Business hours
  • Evenings and weekends based on workload

Additional Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, particularly with diverse populations.  Ability to model open communication, fair and equitable treatment, management of conflicts and work in team structure.
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills including spelling and grammar skills.
  • Experience in public relations, resource development, or related duties.
  • Computer skills including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word and Excel.
