Sustainability & Circular Economy Intern

Geared for GREEN is a pioneer in implementing recycling, sustainability, and circular economy solutions for industry and consumer markets nationwide. For more than 30+ years, we have helped many of the largest North American brands and retailers to implement and execute impactful circular economy initiatives, with 150 separate sustainability solutions focused internally on operations and externally on brand education.  We have recycled over 1 billion pounds of plastic waste into sustainable raw materials, helping our clients reduce their waste-to-landfill and manufacturers make products more sustainably. To help our clients improve value (Economic, Environmental, and Social Brand Value), we emphasize four key pillars of sustainability (Recycling & Sustainability, Sustainable Products, Education & Engagement, and Giving Back) to complement  our eco-supply chain and chain of custody recycling programs. 

For interns, Geared for GREEN offers an exciting opportunity to both learn and tangibly implement recycling & sustainable circular economy solutions.

The role:

Geared for GREEN seeks to hire an intern with a passion for recycling and sustainability, excited to take part in building circular economies. We are interested in hiring a student majoring in either business, entrepreneurship, economics, marketing, environmental, communications, sustainability, or a related field. The interview process will determine where we best see a fit within our organization. The selected candidate will support our staff on a senior management level, and will learn the workings of each step in the circular supply chain: waste and recyclables logistics & collection, physical and chemical recycling, sustainable raw material production, sustainable packaging, manufacturing into sustainable products, and shipping and logistics of product to end customers. As an intern, you will have a hands-on role in building comprehensive sustainability plans for major markets which includes the development of three-year roadmaps, zero waste initiatives, educational communications, logistics networks, and charitable “giving back” partnerships.

Responsibilities and expectations:

  • Strong research skills to explore and vet new eco-supply chain partners involved in each of our 150 sustainable categories including: recycling facilities, product manufacturers, vendors, solutions providers, and potential clients.
  • Excellent people skills to assist in developing and maintaining client and vendor relationships.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively in a fast paced entrepreneurial environment.
  • Familiarity with social media and marketing techniques is preferred.
  • Strong academic record with a passion for learning, ability to multitask, and attain new skills.
  • Basic understanding of sustainable business practices is preferred but not required.
  • Opportunity to work both in person at our Miami office and remotely.
