Cost Accountant

General Responsibilities and Duties

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Primary responsibilities: Include ownership of regularly assigned procure-to-pay activities and monitoring of inventory accounting processes and systems. Develop a comprehensive understanding of our related systems, materials and financial Cost of Sales spending preparatory to use in developing accurate costs of manufacture.

· Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist with annual budget development and provide insights to analyze Cost of Sales and inventory variance results, relating them to the manufacturing environment and revised cost standards.

· Journal Entries and Reconciliations: Preparation and review of journal entries, accruals, and related Cost of Sales expense to assure proper financial presentment and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.

· Standard Costs: Work to improve overall accuracies within standard cost rates and explain significant labor, materials, and overhead variances from expectations.

· Other Responsibilities: Additional duties as requested by the supervisor.

Education and Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting. Certifications are a plus.

· Minimum of 2-3 years of progressive experience in a manufacturing environment.

· Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP)

· Proficiency in financial software and manufacturing ERP systems.

· Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

· Excellent I.T. skills: Excel/Word, MS Access, SharePoint.

· Highly detail-oriented and ability to multi-task.

· Teachable attitude, acceptance of constructive feedback, and willingness to learn.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to remain in a stationary position, walk, reach with hands and arms, push, pull, grasp (simple/power), twist (neck/waist), stoop, bend, and kneel.
