Laboratory Intern

Aquatech Environmental Services  is a global leader in providing water and wastewater treatment services using a fleet of water treatment process equipment rental fleet. We service industries such as biofuels, energy, metals and mining, oil and gas, chemicals, pulp and paper, consumer and personal care products and we are active in North America as well as countries around the globe. 

As a growth-oriented business unit of Aquatech International (www.aquatech.com) we are working on developing new solutions for emerging wastewater problems with aggressive plans to further expand in both size and market diversification, We are looking for a summer intern with the possibility for full-time employment to do Laboratory testing of electrochemical processes in our Creekside, PA facility. The Intern will report to the Department Manager and will perform the duties described in the job description below and will be considered a non-exempt employee.

 The hours are Monday - Friday 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. This is a PAID internship and the Intern will perform the duties described in the job description below and will be considered a non-exempt employee

Minimum Qualifications / Experience:

  • Mechanical aptitude/technical background desired
  • Pursuing a degree in Chemistry or Physics
  • Experience/training in bench top ‘wet’ inorganic chemistry analytical procedures desired
  • Detail-oriented, Communicate and receive precise chemical data and procedures 
  • Ability to understand and follow detailed lab procedures and safety sheets
  • Experience/familiarity with standard laboratory instruments such as pH and conductivity meters, analytical balances, and microscopes
  • Demonstrate initiative and willingness to learn and grow in responsibility on the job 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Ability to work independently, with a minimum of supervision

 

Job Description:

  • Participate in the design and assembly of pilot systems and laboratory set up
  • Performing operating procedures to run the pilot equipment 
  • Ensure a safe working environment;
  • Develop process models to analyze data and form conclusions;
  • Author laboratory pilot reports;
  • Conduct various forms of chemical analysis that are typical in laboratories, including spectrometers and combustion ion chromatographs;
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment including glassware used in lab analyses and testing

  • Possess good organizational skills
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form  
  • Ability to be hands on and to carry out tasks with minimal monitoring

Physical Job Demands: 

Lifting / carrying / moving 50 lbs, may need to climb ladders and cannot be afraid of heights, and will need to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while in the laboratory. Needs high degree of concentration in a busy area.
