Cleaning and Media Engineering Co-op - Fall 2024

Core Purpose: 

The Cleaning and Media Eng. co-op will be part of the Core Technologies Development (CTD) team within the WEC Development and Engineering organization at Entegris. The CTD team drives the overarching technology roadmap through scouting of new technologies, design, and implementation of prototype equipment, as well as process optimization and integration into manufacturing. The Cleaning and Media Eng. Co-op will primarily support the design and execution of experimental plans for novel technology exploration but will also be given the opportunity to assist in implementation of novel process equipment. The engineer will work with cross functional groups within Entegris. 

In this role, you will: 

• Conduct research under the direction of a more senior engineer(s) to identify new filter cleaning technologies and improved processes, that will meet technology roadmap targets as well as design specifications of new filter products 

• Assist with new equipment commissioning, and execution of experimental plans in the lab 

• Communicate progress on a frequent basis including recommendations for process improvement 

• Engage with a variety of stakeholders including R&D personnel, Operations, Facilities, and EHS 

• Develop critical thinking and problem solving associated with novel and/or improved process/equipment design 

• Identify and resolve issues proactively 

• Analyze data, prepare progress reports and presentations 

• Write standard operating procedures for novel/improved processes and assist with general day-to-day equipment and laboratory-related tasks. 

You're a good fit if you have: 

• Interest or experience working in a chemical laboratory 

• Motivated and self-directed team player with good interpersonal skills 

• Good organizational and communication skills with the ability to effectively convey information both verbally and in writing 

• Detail-oriented, ability to take comprehensive notes and make observations 

• Willingness to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced working environment

• Ability to work with intra and inter departmental functional areas as necessary 

Desired Major: 

Materials Science, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering - Must be enrolled in an undergraduate program with a graduation date of May 2025 or later. Physical Requirements: The student will need to be able to navigate in and around a wet chemistry lab. The student must be able to move filters (5-10 lbs) in and out of tools used in the process steps.
