Environmental, Health and Safety Co-Op- Fall 2024

Program Dates: July-Late December 2024

The Role:

By the end of the program, the student will have gained the experience and confidence to enter the professional world as an EHS Specialist, understanding and able to carry out industry-best health & safety responsibilities and a basis understanding of environmental regulations for running an industrial site.

What you’ll do:

• The EHS intern will assist with essential EHS requirements, such as assisting with weekly eye wash/shower station inspections, monthly inspections and data entry into ETQ database including a variety of data such as daily safety observations, near misses, incidents.
• The data control will offer an opportunities to handle KPIs and gain knowledge and experience.
• Assign safety tasks and follow through Development of lock out/tag out work instructions and auditing of procedures.
• Job safety analysis documentation.
• Participation on root cause investigations for incidents.
• Chemical Inventory analysis and other EHS tasks.

What we seek:

• Current enrollment in Bachelor of Science: technical degree, i.e. Chemistry, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, or engineering
• Organized Communication & presentation skills.
• Good computer skills, familiar with Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk and climb stairs, working at office and manufacturing areas.

• Demonstrate understanding of core EHS policies, procedures, and practices.
• Meet key deliverables assigned during internship.
