Chemist - Analytical

The Chemist position is responsible for operating the company’s analytical equipment in order to characterize carbon black made through Monolith’s proprietary process. Organization of resulting data and continuous improvement of data collection techniques are required. Some of the state-of-the-art analytical techniques include: Surface area analysis via gas adsorption (BET), titration analysis of carbon black samples, particle histogram via SEM and TEM, oil absorption number (OAN) analysis, ICP-OES elemental analysis, surface energy measurement and other techniques.

What you'll do in the role:

  • Arrange and categorize all experiments
  • Perform applications analysis; inks, plastics, rubber, batteries, etc.
  • Demonstrate a high level of safety awareness and conviction
  • Continuously improve the analytical and application data collection and the organization of said data
  • Actively participate in brainstorming and problem-solving in a team setting to identify solutions
  • Learn all analytical testing techniques for carbon black including how to perform QAQC work at the Hallam plant, OC1
  • Perform off-shift QAQC duties at OC1 with no more than one-fifth of working time for the first year of employment
  • Performs other duties as needed

Your environment:

  • You will work in an office and lab setting at our technical center in Lincoln, Nebraska.
  • Monday-Friday, 40 hrs/wk, weekend availability as needed
